L'ille Bizard

Population: 13,895 (December 2000)
Area: 22,68 km2

L'Île-Bizard, a wooded island between Montréal and Laval, is still relatively unsoiled. Much of the housing is single-family homes residents. There are a number of new condominium and single-family home developments on the island as well. L'Île-Bizard is connected to Pierrefonds by the Jacques-Bizard Bridge, so commuting by car is not a problem. Bus service is available, and there is also a six-car ferry linking the island with Laval. Cyclists come in large numbers to ride the scenic Tour de I'île (Around the island).

L'Île-Bizard is home to two prestigious private golf clubs and developers are building a new 18-hole course to be integrated into a residential housing project. The Boisé-de-l'Île-Bizard and the Pointe-aux-Carrières have been added to the Urban Community park network.

The original village and parish church are located on the southern tip of the island, with newer developments further north. The administration of the municipality is carefully planning future development to preserve the community's lifestyle. Two local shopping malls serve the needs of residents.
