There is a mixture of housing in the community, with prices that are fairly modest by West Island standards. MacDonald College of McGill University and John Abbott CEGEP are located in Sainte-Anne, so the municipality has something of a college-town feel to it.
Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue combines the charm of an historic village with the services of a modern community. The narrow main commercial street leads to a promenade which provides public access to the shoreline and locks. Smaller local parks are popular with residents and the municipality is home to the John Abbott CEGEP and the agricultural campus of McGill University. Housing varies from larger waterfront properties to cottages as well as some apartment units Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is the oldest community in Montreal's West Island, having been founded as a parish in 1703. It is home to John Abbott College, and McGill University's Macdonald College. The latter includes about two square kilometres of farmland which separates the small town from the suburban sprawl of neighbouring Baie-d'Urfé. Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is traversed by Autoroute 20 and Autoroute 40 (the Trans-Canada Highway), and is served by the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue commuter train station. It contains John Abbott College and McGill University's Macdonald Campus, as well as the Sainte-Anne veterans' hospital, the Morgan Arboretum, the J.S. Marshall Radar Observatory and the three nature parks transferred from Pierrefonds—Senneville.
